PSD2 Compliance Hub for the Bulgarian Banks

About the Client

For almost 30 years now, our customer has been a leading provider of financial services and a trusted partner for banks and businesses. The company has built the technology infrastructure of the Bulgarian payment industry and one of its main priorities is providing a modern payment environment for the financial institutions.

Business Challenge

The new EU Payment Service Directive (PSD2), which enters into force in 2019, has changed the rules in banking. Following its core mission, our customer has decided to develop a shared platform for PSD2 compliance that will support the Bulgarian banks in fulfilling the new legal requirements and adapting to the Open Banking environment, and will generate economies of scale.

BULPROS has designed and implemented an API gateway and management solution based on the Berlin Group XS2A Framework and the BISTRA National Bulgarian Standard for account information and payment initiation services. The solution consists of a Developer Portal branded for each bank, a Sandbox and production APIs integrated with the banks’ backend systems and their Strong Customer Authentication solutions. BULPROS has also integrated its Consent Management System in order to store the payment service user consents allowing third party providers to access the user accounts. The solution is based on the IBM API Connect and IBM DataPower platform and provides a multi-tenant private cloud with containerization, self-service management portal, API management, strong security and end-to-end monitoring.
